PCIC and PA TransCAER® Help Sponsor Whistle Stop

Norfolk Southern's Whistlestop Tour came to rest in Pennsylvania yesterday.  At the Norfolk Southern rail yard in Bethlehem, a special NS train entertained and educated emergency responders on how to best diffuse rail accidents.  After all is finished, the Whistlestop Tour will have stopped in five cities in five days, including Buffalo and Binghamton, NY, Linden, NJ, and Hagerstown, MD.

An estimated 150 attendees were present to attend training on radioactive material, polymerization, derailment safety and phenol tank car case studies.  Norfolk Southern also had exhibit cars present, which educated attendees on the inner workings of railroads.  PA TransCAER®, of which PCIC is a member, was responsible for much of the tour planning.  Other PCIC member participation includes Air Products, who sponsored lunch, Sunoco, who did presentations on trailer car safety, Rohm and Haas, who conducted presentations on polymerization, and Dupont, who had a training car included in the train.
